New MEBC Leaderboard

February 2020 marks another major Angry Birds 2 update! This includes a change to Mighty Eagle’s Boot Camp, one that many players have been requesting for some time. There is a new leaderboard system in MEBC. Used to be top 100 players for the day, top 100 players for the season, and top 100 clans. Now the three leaderboards are labeled ‘Local’, ‘Global’, and ‘Top Clans’. Top Clans is business as usual and Global is essentially the same as the top 100 players.
The new feature is the Local leaderboard. Players are grouped together by flock power size to compete for additional MEBC coins. Only the top 50 earn extra coin. I’m guessing this is top 50 out of 100 players but I’m not sure yet. (I’ll have to bomb a day to place in the bottom so I can find out.) It appears this side competition will have no affect on frames. This means the frame system is probably remaining the same. At the end of the MEBC season the frames will all reset, just as they have in the past.
There are two additional tabs under the Local leaderboard. The ‘Daily’ tab shows how your daily score ranks against similar flocks and the extra coins earned for your placement that day. The ‘Season’ tab shows how your season total ranks against similar flocks. This is also where you can view your total frame points for the current season.
You’ll find the same setup under the Global leaderboard. Daily and season ranks for all players across the globe are displayed here. Under the Season tab you see there is additional coin awarded to the top 100 players each season. There are not additional coins shown for season ranks under the Local leaderboard.
Another neat feature is the MEBC shop is now open 24/7! Having the shop open all the time allows players to wait until Black Pearl Parties or Feather Frenzies to cash in MEBC coin. Don’t worry, one hat will still be discounted at the end of the season. When the shop opened, before the current season ended, Red’s ninja hat was still showing on sale. When the season ends, Blues’ ninja hat should go on sale. The sale may or may not last the entirety of the new season. If it is on sale all season it would allow players to level up as they earn coin playing daily since coins for clearing rooms are also still awarded.  More incentives to play daily!
Really the new update is all about getting some extra coin to players, especially smaller flocks. Growth begins to stall out at 550-600fp and the game can begin to feel discouraging. This is a fun way to level the playing field a bit and give the lil guys a chance at some big coin. Top three spots on the daily Local leaderboard pay 50, 30, and 20 coins! Wonder how many people will start spending gems for better placement on the Local leaderboard?!?
All in all, I’d say it’s a win~win! From what I can tell they didn’t take anything away. It will be interesting to see how this seasons total coins compares to the new season. Good luck in this upcoming season my friends! May your birds fly where you aim and deploy when you command!

    Regarding the coin rewards for the local levels, when are those coins earned? Daily like the way we earn coins for clearing levels? Or do we have to wait till the end of the season?

MEBC: The Fly Over

Mighty Eagle runs a tight ship and expects you to play in Boot Camp daily. Those who do will be handsomely rewarded. Do not be intimidated! This is a great place to practice and earn free rewards. You only get one free run, so make the most of it. If you wish to make additional attempts it will cost you gems, currently 60 gems pre rerun. The goal is to clear as many rooms as you can while causing as much damage as possible until you run out of birds or rooms. There are a limited number of rooms but it is rare for a player to finish MEBC with birds left over. Each room cleared pays Mighty Eagle coins. Additionally, the higher your final score, the more Mighty Eagle coins you will earn when the days training is complete. Your daily placement on the Local Leaderboard pays if you place high enough, and your frame coins are tallied up and paid out at the end of the season. MEBC seasons vary between 40-48 days typically. When you play MEBC you compete against all players in the game.

Dummies Defined

One of the hot button issues in Angry Birds 2 is the use of dummies in clans. This poses the question, what is a dummy? The FaceBook advocacy group ‘No Dummies Allowed AB2’ defines a dummy as player accounts maintained at a low flock power solely for biasing Clan vs Clan matches. Dummy accounts are usually easy to spot. The main thing to look for is flock power, many times it’s below 65. A combination of white MEBC frames, Vanilla League, no hatchling, and a base level slingshot are also signs of dummy accounts. The dead giveaway is not having the whole flock unlocked. Some dummy accounts may only have three or four birds open. At this point you may be wondering how in the world such a small flock could give a clan any sort of advantage. Valid question! From what we can tell Rovio matches clans based on the number of players and the clan flock power. They didn’t fully account for the distribution of flock power within the clan.
